Detectives are investigating an attempted murder-suicide that happened Friday afternoon in Seminole, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies responded to a home on Anchorage Circle at around 5:19 p.m. after reports that someone had been shot. They arrived to find the victim, a 58-year-old woman, at a neighbor’s house.
The victim told police that her husband, 65-year-old SG, shot her, and deputies soon learned the suspect was still inside the home and was armed.
Attempts to communicate with G and get him to come out of the house were unsuccessful, and deputies eventually entered the residence and found him with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives later learned that the victim had recently filed for divorce after ongoing domestic issues, PCSO said. G was threatening her and began firing as she tried to leave. She was able to flee to a neighbor’s home, but suffered a non-life-threatening graze wound to the back of her head.
The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of the head wound.
