66-year-old motorcyclist killed in Marion County crash, troopers say

 A 66-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Marion County on Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened at U.S. 441 and NE 223rd Street around 8 a.m.

According to a crash report, a motorcycle was traveling north on U.S. 441 in the outside lane, north of NW 223rd Street.

Troopers said an SUV was traveling north on U.S. 441 in the outside lane, behind the motorcycle.

In addition, a second SUV was traveling north on U.S. 441 in the outside lane, behind the first SUV.

According to the crash report, the motorcyclist overturned, redirected northwest before crashing into the right side of the second SUV and the undercarriage of the first SUV.

Troopers said the second SUV then ran off the roadway right and the before crashing into a fence.

The motorcycle came to a final rest in the outside lane, facing west. The motorcyclist – identified as a 66-year-old Ocala man – was killed in the crash, but the FHP did not disclose if he died at the scene or the hospital.

No other injuries were identified in the crash report.
