Driver pronounced dead at scene of crash in Lake County

A driver was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash early Sunday morning in Lake County.

The 51-year-old Astatula man was driving a 2000 Ford F-250 pickup truck a 1:17 a.m. on County Road 450 at Babb Road west of Umatilla when he failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the road, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The truck ran into the treeline and the right side of the truck hit a tree. The driver was partially ejected from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
