A 66-year-old St. Augustine man died Thursday night after his electronic bicycle crashed head on with an SUV on U.S. 1 in St. Johns County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the man was headed south in the northbound lanes of U.S. 1, south of Las Calinas Boulevard, around 8:20 p.m. when an SUV headed north in the same lanes collided with the e-bike head on.
The e-bike rider died at the scene. Troopers said he was not wearing a helmet.
The 36-year-old St. Augustine woman driving the SUV was not injured. According to the report, she was not wearing a seat belt.
