Ocala mother sues 7-Eleven over child’s slip-and-fall

Ocala mother sues 7-Eleven over child’s slip-and-fall

An Ocala mother has filed a lawsuit against 7-Eleven, claiming her daughter sustained “significant personal injuries” after slipping and falling inside one of the company’s local convenience stores.

VM filed the lawsuit on behalf of her daughter, who is identified solely as “E.M.,” against Seven Eleven Ocala, LLC, in the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County on August 25.

According to the lawsuit, M’s daughter was visiting the 7-Eleven at 9445 SW 49th Avenue in Ocala on February 3, 2025.

While E.M. was walking through the inside of the convenience store to purchase a beverage, the complaint alleges that she “slipped and fell” on a liquid substance on the floor “where customers and guests are intended to walk.”

The slip caused E.M. to allegedly sustain “significant personal injuries.” The complaint alleges that E.M. suffered “permanent and significant scarring,” permanent or continuing losses, and a loss of ability to earn money, among others.

M’s attorneys argue that the company failed to adequately maintain a “safe walking area” within the building, thus creating “an “unreasonably dangerous condition.” The lawsuit goes on to suggest the company was negligent in failing to adequately inspect the floor and warn customers of the dangers.

“At all times material hereto, Seven Eleven Ocala, LLC, had a responsibility for the maintenance and cleanliness of the subject premises and had a non-delegable duty to maintain the same in a reasonably safe condition for residents, business invitees, and guests, including E.M.,” reads a statement from the complaint.

M is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, exclusive of attorney’s costs. She and her daughter are being represented by Orlando-based Morgan and Morgan Personal Attorneys.
