A 17-year-old boy was arrested after being accused of leading Florida Highway Patrol troopers on a high-speed chase down I-75 in Charlotte County.
According to FHP, the driver fled from a traffic stop in a black Mercedes on Tuesday morning, and troopers found the vehicle abandoned in a few feet of water. The driver was also found a short time later and arrested.
Troopers said they were trying to stop the teen for driving 105 mph on I-75.
The Mercedes was located off a dirt road near Babcock Webb Wildlife Management Area and State Road 31.
The teen is facing the following charges:
- Fleeing and eluding
- Reckless driving
- Driving while license is suspended
- Super speeder (105 mph)
- Hit and run
- Resisting without violence
