One person is injured after a shooting in Lehigh Acres that placed nearby schools on temporary ‘secure status’ Thursday afternoon.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting at Lee Boulevard and Gunnery Road is under investigation and the parties involved knew each other.
The sheriff’s office also said the victim’s injuries are not life threatening and they were treated at the hospital.
The School District of Lee County said Sunshine Elementary School and Tortuga Preserve Elementary School were on ‘secure status’ with no one allowed in, but operations continued as normal. The secures have been lifted at both schools.
If you have information in this case, you are asked to contact Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477), on the P3 app, or on its website. You can remain anonymous, and if your tip leads to an arrest, you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
