Fire rescue personnel pulled an injured driver out of an overturned car in a canal on Thursday in North Lauderdale.

The driver crashed into the canal near Avon Lane and West McNab Road, according to the North Lauderdale Fire Rescue Department.

A helicopter flew the man to Broward Health North in critical condition, according first responders.

Authorities said no other victims were in the water, as a drone was deployed and no heat signatures for additional victims were detected.

There was a fallen light pole, and black skid marks on the grass between the road and the canal.
