Four people, including two children, were transported to a hospital Monday morning following a house fire in the Grand Park neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

The fire was reported around 7:50 a.m. at a home on Sherrington Street, near Division Street.

JFRD said a crew was working at a station nearby when it saw smoke and did what’s called “self dispatch.”

According to JFRD, a mother and her youngest child were transported to the hospital in critical condition. The grandmother and an older child were transported in stable condition.

JFRD said the fire started in the living room.

The home is nearly destroyed. There’s smoke damage throughout the house and the front windows are broken.

The cause is under investigation.
