A man was arrested after being accused of killing a pedestrian with his car and fleeing the scene in Manatee County on Friday night.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a pedestrian was walking in the northbound lane of 15th Street East in Manatee County.
According to the FHP, a pickup truck being driven by ACD, 38, was also traveling in the northbound lane of 15th Street East when the front of his truck hit the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was thrown by the crash and landed in a ditch near the area of 15th Street East. The pedestrian died from the crash, FHP said.
Following the crash, CD fled the scene in the pickup truck.
CD was then involved in a second crash — this time a traffic crash — on Ninth Street East and ran away from the scene, according to the FHP.
The FHP caught CD shortly after the second crash, and he was placed under arrest.
CD faces these charges:
- No driver’s license (involving a death)
- Leaving the scene of a crash involving a death
- DUI
- Leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage (Second crash)
- DUI property damage (Second crash)
- No driver’s license
- Violation of probation
