Dog rescued from house fire in Rotonda West

Charlotte County Fire & EMS rescued a dog from a house fire in Rotonda West on Friday evening.

According to Charlotte County Public Safety, CCF responded with the Englewood Area Fire Control District to a residential structure fire around 5:18 p.m. Crews had received reports of smoke coming from inside the house and two dogs being inside the home.

Upon arrival, one of the firefighters recognized the house as his niece’s. He was able to safely open the front door without causing any damage, rescue one dog, and provide oxygen to it while the fire on the stove was put out.

CCPS said there was minimal damage to the home and that the second dog had recently been rehomed, which the neighbor who called was unaware of.
