A man in his early 20s died Sunday night when he was thrown from his motorcycle in a crash on Girvin Road, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
According to police, the man was headed south on Girvin Road just after 10 p.m. on a sport motorcycle when he missed a curve, hit a center median curb and was thrown from the bike.
He died at the scene, JSO said. They did not indicate if he was wearing a helmet at the time.
Police said it was the 29th deadly crash involving a motorcyclist this year — and the second in just over an hour on Sunday night.
Earlier, a motorcyclist was killed at the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard and San Mateo Avenue when a teen driver crossed his path while making a left turn, police said.
