A 68-year-old Florida man was killed Monday night when his golf cart was struck from behind by a pickup driven by a 16-year-old Melbourne Beach boy on State Road A1A in Brevard County, officials said.
The fatal wreck happened around 9:30 p.m. on S.R. A1A near Normandy Place, south of Melbourne Beach.
The Florida Highway Patrol said a Floridana Beach man was driving southbound in his golf cart, with a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado behind him.
A witness told troopers that the golf cart did not have any active lights, and the front of the pickup struck the back of the golf cart, causing the cart to overturn, according to the FHP.
Troopers said the 68-year-old was thrown off the golf cart and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The FHP said the teen pickup driver was uninjured.
An investigation is ongoing.
