Woman, 27, accused of pushing 89-year-old out of wheelchair, robbing him in Brownsville

A homeless woman is facing two felony charges after Miami-Dade deputies said she assaulted and robbed an 89-year-old disabled man on Wednesday.

An arrest report states that RWL, 27, approached the senior in the area of Northwest 47th Street and 27th Avenue, in the unincorporated Brownsville area, as he went to a nearby store.

Authorities said L “pushed him out of the wheelchair and down to the ground” and then “began making demands for the victim’s property and hitting him throughout (his) body.”

Deputies said L “went through the victim’s pockets and wheelchair” and took his wallet.

According to the report, multiple witnesses called the sheriff’s office and chased down L, who ran to the U-Gas station at 4700 NW 27th Ave.

Deputies said a witness was able to get the man’s wallet back.

After deputies arrived, they said they found L sitting at the gas station with “miscellaneous baggies of narcotics on her lap” and the man’s identification card.

They took L to jail on charges of strong-armed robbery and battery on a person 65 or older.

As of Thursday, she was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $15,000 bond.
