The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said late Thursday night that a woman died after she was hit by a pickup truck while attempting to cross over Kings Avenue.
Police said the pickup truck was heading south on Kings Avenue when the incident occurred, adding that the woman was about 35 yards away from the nearest crosswalk when she was hit.
Crews with Jacksonville Fire Rescue took her to the hospital, where she later died, JSO said.
The agency also said the driver stayed at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation.
The crash marks the 116th fatality in Duval County this year, JSO said.
Speed is not believed to have played a factor in the crash.
