A 35-year-old Ocala man is behind bars after he was accused of battering and choking his girlfriend during an argument over infidelity.
On Tuesday, September 16, the female victim informed the Marion County Sheriff’s Office that her boyfriend, ETH, had battered her and threatened to kill her earlier that morning, according to the arrest report.
An MCSO corporal noted in the report that the victim had “significant bruising and swelling” near her right eye, and additional bruises were observed behind her left ear. The victim also complained of pain in her jaw and teeth, as well as a loss of hearing in her left ear.
According to the victim’s statement, she was asleep on a couch in her home when T.H slapped her in the face. She immediately woke up, and she advised that T.H began accusing her of “communicating with another man.”
The victim stated that T.H was holding a knife by his side, and he allegedly told the victim, “I’m going to kill you if you don’t tell me who you’re seeing.” According to the victim, T.H then proceeded to strike her multiple times in the face and head before forcing her to the floor.
T.H then allegedly climbed on top of the victim and used his forearm to choke her. The victim stated that she was unable to breathe while being choked by T.H, but she did not lose consciousness.
The victim advised that T.H eventually stopped choking her when he “noticed the injuries to her face,” according to the report.
Following the interview with the victim, several MCSO corporals responded to the incident location and observed T.H’s vehicle pull into the driveway. After being read his Miranda rights, T.H requested to speak with an attorney, and he was placed under arrest and transported to Marion County Jail.
T.H remains in custody at the jail, and his bond has been set at $16,000. He is being charged with domestic battery by strangulation, domestic aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license (third or subsequent offense).
A court date for T.H has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
