A 76-year-old man from Ocala is dead after a hit and run crash Tuesday night.
According to Florida Highway Patrol troopers, the 76-year-old man was pushing a cart of groceries across the westbound lanes of State Road 200 at the intersection of Southwest 60th Street just before 8 p.m.
The driver of the vehicle, which troopers say is van, was traveling west on State Road 200 through the intersection of Southwest 60th Street when the van hit the man. The driver of the van drove off after hitting the man.
The 76-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The westbound lanes on State Road 200 were temporarily closed while troopers investigating the crash.
FHP troopers say the hit and run vehicle is a dark colored full-sized van with a topper that will have front-end damage to the grille area.
