A 76-year-old Melbourne man was killed in a wrong-way crash Tuesday night in Flagler County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The wreck occurred shortly before midnight on northbound U.S. 1, just south of Seminole Woods Boulevard, troopers said.
According to an FHP crash report, the Melbourne man was driving a sedan south in the northbound lanes of U.S. 1 and struck a northbound sedan head-on. An SUV then struck the second sedan, the report states, adding all three vehicles came to rest in the roadway and center median.
The Melbourne man was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
The 63-year-old Bunnell man driving the other sedan suffered serious injuries in the crash and the 41-year-old Palm Coast man driving the SUV was not injured, according to the report. Troopers believe the Melbourne man was not wearing a seat belt during the crash while the two other drivers were.
