A St. Petersburg man was arrested after a deadly head-on collision, the St. Petersburg Police Department announced.
Brett McClelland, 41, was driving a Subaru Outback in the westbound lanes on the 7800 block of 38th Avenue North on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., when he swerved into oncoming traffic.
SPPD said McClelland struck a black Toyota Sedan that was heading eastbound.
The driver of the Toyota was seriously injured, and the passenger, Angel Shihate, 89, died of her injuries at the hospital.
McClelland was also treated for injuries, where officers found he was under the influence.
According to officers, McClelland was arrested for DUI manslaughter and DUI causing serious bodily injury after a deadly head-on collision.
