19-year-old motorcyclist dies in crash on I-95 south of Baymeadows Road

A fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a sedan occurred early Sunday morning on Interstate 95 in Duval County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident happened at 12:18 a.m. south of Baymeadows Road.

FHP said a 19-year-old motorcycle driver, of Phoenix, Arizona, was speeding south when the motorcyclist collided with the left rear of a sedan.

The impact caused the motorcycle driver to be thrown from the vehicle.

The sedan was driven to a controlled stop on the outside shoulder of the highway.

The motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet but suffered fatal injuries, the report said.

FHP said the sedan driver was not injured.

Crash and homicide investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol are handling the case.
