A 3-year-old child is dead after being struck by the wheels of a pickup truck.
On Sunday, September 28th, the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a traffic incident at a private hunting lease in Bay County near GW Hobbs Road.
According to FHP, a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado was making a U-turn when the vehicle’s right-side tires hit a child playing in a grassy field nearby.
The child sustained life-threatening injuries, and the child’s parents quickly contacted emergency services.
The child was transported to a local hospital, where life-saving operations were attempted. Despite their best efforts, the child would die from his injuries.
The Bay County Sheriff’s Office assisted on the scene, and the Florida Highway Patrol’s Traffic Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case.
