Pair accused of assaulting, robbing senior in Miami’s Shenandoah neighborhood

Miami police arrested a homeless woman and man Tuesday in connection with a robbery and assault on a senior that they say occurred at an abandoned house in the city’s Shenandoah neighborhood.

Jail records show MMM, 41, and AD, 46, are each facing one count of strongarm robbery and aggravated battery on a person 65 years or older.

Police said the incident occurred just after 6 p.m. near the 2300 block of Southwest Ninth Street.

The arrest report states the victim had been living at the abandoned house with M and D for no more than 15 days.

The victim said he called his son to help him leave the house, but M and D allegedly refused to let him go, according to police.

“M was demanding money that the victim’s son owes her,” the report stated.

Shortly after, police said D held the victim’s arms from the rear while M “reached into his pocket and took his property.”

The victim attempted to stop them, but D slammed him against a tree, causing lacerations to the top of his head, according to the report.

The victim’s son acknowledged that his father owed money to M but police said “she had no business battering the victim.”

Officers arrived at the scene, detained M and D, and transported them to MPD’s robbery office for interviews.

They said M admitted she was present at the location of where the robbery occurred but denied taking part in it.

As of Wednesday, both suspects are being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where their bonds were listed as “to be set.”
