UPDATE: SUV crash in Santa Rosa County leaves two children injured, vehicle caught fire

Two children were injured in a single-vehicle crash in Santa Rosa County on Friday night.

Troopers say the crash occured on Interstate 10 eastbound near Ward Basin Road in Milton around 8:24 p.m. when a SUV driven by a 40-year-old Tallahassee man veered off the road and collided with a tree before catching fire. A witness helped four occupants escape the burning vehicle.

A 1-year-old boy sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to Sacred Heart Pensacola, while a 4-year-old girl suffered serious injuries., according to FHP.

The driver and a 20-year-old female passenger sustained minor injuries.
