A Leesburg man was arrested for battery after allegedly strangling his fiancé while lashing out over narcotics.
An officer responded to an undisclosed Leesburg hotel around 2:35 a.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Upon arrival, he found the fiancé of 44-year-old CMS standing outside. He immediately noticed the right side of her shirt collar was stretched and ripped.
She advised that that S, who she had been dating for 10 months, “mushed” her and choked her until she passed out. He ran away on foot, and she was unsure which direction he went, the report said.
When asked to clarify, she stated he recently started taking drugs and had not been acting like his normal self. They were in their room that day when he realized he did not have any narcotics left and lashed out at her. He “came at” her, choked her, grabbed her face and pushed her down before spitting in her face, the report said.
The fiancé could not breath while S choked her. He put both hands around her neck and held them there until she passed out, but she woke up shortly after. He grabbed near her shoulder at some point and ripped her shirt collar, as well. As she got up to call 911, he ran out the door, the report said.
S was ultimately found near the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 441 and Blossom Lane around 3 a.m. He did not want to talk, instead just shaking his head and remaining silent, the report said.
A criminal history check revealed he had been charged with battery on Aug. 26, and there was a current no victim contact order in place. Being with in 500ft of his fiancé was a violation of said order, yet he was in a hotel room with her, the report said.
S was arrested on charges of battery by strangulation (domestic), simple battery (domestic) an violate pre-trial release. He was transported to Lake County Jail to be held without bond.
The New York native was also arrested in August for allegedly backhanding his girlfriend when she accused him of cheating.
