3 injured in ‘ambush’ shooting in Brevard County, deputies say

Three people were shot and injured Monday afternoon in what Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey described as an “ambush.”

Deputies said the shooting was reported in the area of Clearlake Road and Rosetine Street in Cocoa.

According to Sheriff Wayne Ivey, deputies as well as Cocoa Police Department and Brevard County Fire Rescue responded to reports of shots fired and “multiple gunshot victims” around 4:30 p.m.

“It appears that this was an ambush that took place,” Sheriff Ivey said, describing the shooting as an “extremely isolated incident.”

Deputies located three gunshot victims at the scene and they were taken to the hospital to be treated, but their condition is not known at this time, Ivey said.

Ivey went on to say that they believe the shooters and the victims knew each other and there is no threat to the public.

If you have information regarding the shooting, you can report it anonymously to Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
