A Hialeah man was arrested on an attempted murder charge on Wednesday after police said he attacked another man with a box cutter over the weekend.
According to the Hialeah Police Department, the stabbing happened on Sunday evening at Las Margaritas Cafeteria.
An HPD arrest report states that AP, 52, the victim and another person had been arguing at the cafeteria, located at 1385 Palm Ave., at around 9:15 p.m.
When they stepped out of the restaurant, police said P “confronted” the victim and stabbed him “several times.”
“The victim resisted the stabbing attempts and managed to (avoid) a stab wound directed at his neck; however, he was stabbed in the left arm and right leg, causing (severe) arterial bleeding requiring emergency surgery at Ryder Trauma (Center),“ an HPD officer wrote on Wednesday. ”As of this writing, the victim remains at (the) Ryder intensive care unit.”
The report doesn’t state what the argument was about, but said the third person, who has known P for four years, identified him as the assailant.
Authorities took P into custody Wednesday night at his apartment at 84 W. 31st St., the report states.
As of Thursday, he was being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
