Citrus County home catches fire causing an estimated $268K in damages

A two-story home caught fire in Citrus County on Friday, sustaining about $268,000 in damage, according to Citrus County Fire Rescue.

At 9:56 a.m., CCFR was dispatched to a structure fire on S. Bauer Road in Lecanto.

At the scene, responders said they found a two-story log-style home with heavy fire emitting from multiple sides.

Crews immediately began working to subdue the flames while conducting a primary search of the first floor, reporting that they were initially unable to access the residence due to a low-hanging utility line along the driveway.

According to CCFR, about 60% of the structure was engulfed by flames.

Crews from multiple stations worked together to get the fire under control, which they managed to do by 10:30 a.m.

After conducting multiple searches of the home, firefighters confirmed no one was inside at the time of the fire.

CCFR estimated the home and its contents sustained approximately $268,000 in damage.
