A 15-year-old girl is critically injured after being struck by a pickup truck in southwest Miami-Dade on Friday, officials said.
The incident happened around 3:20 p.m. in the 20400 block of Southwest 127th Avenue.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials confirmed they responded to a call of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian and found an injured teen.
Surveillance showed the teenage girl crossing the street when a white pickup truck hit her and dragged her several feet down the road.
The teen was airlifted to a local hospital as a trauma alert. Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office officials said the girl was in critical condition.
The driver of the truck remained at the scene following the crash.
Aerial footage from Chopper 6 showed debris in the roadway next to a pickup truck that appeared to have front-end damage.
Authorities are investigating whether the girl had just gotten off a bus moments before the accident.
A retired Miramar police officer who arrived on scene described finding the young girl lying in the street and coming to her aid.
No other details were immediately known.
