1 dead after Okeechobee crash Sunday

One person is dead after a crash in Okeechobee on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an 85-year-old man was driving west on State Road 78, approaching a driveway located near Tomato Grade Road.

The truck turned left, went across the SR-78 eastbound lane, and drove into the south grass shoulder by the road. The truck then crashed into a barbed wire fence and a tree, FHP said.

The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
