A man was wounded and another was injured after a fight devolved into a shooting on Friday night in Fort Lauderdale’s Melrose Park neighborhood, near Plantation.
Police officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 10:30 p.m. on Friday, outside of the Kwik Pick Food Market at 3870 SW 2 Court.
“One person was shot. The other involved party sustained injuries, however, not from a gunshot. Both parties are being treated at area hospitals,” Officer Chavez Grant, a spokesman for the Plantation Police Department, wrote in a statement released on Saturday.
Wilfrid Pierre, a Melrose Park resident since 1992, said he was worried about the victim.
“Now he is fighting for his life,” Pierre said about the victim.
Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 to remain anonymous.
