Motorcyclist killed in crash on Thomas Drive; PCBPD investigating

 Panama City Beach Police responded to a fatal motorcycle crash in front of Alvin’s Island on 9401 Thomas Drive early Saturday morning.

Preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Thomas Drive when it left the roadway into the Alvin’s Island parking lot for unknown reasons.

According to a news release, the motorcycle struck a curb, ejected the driver, and came to a final rest on the southeast end of the parking lot. The driver sustained serious head trauma.

Authorities arrived on the scene immediately to provide aid. However, when the Panama City Beach Fire and EMS arrived on scene, the driver, a male, was pronounced dead, authorities confirmed.

The next of kin is still pending, so the identity of the motorcyclist will not be released at this time.

The Panama City Beach Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash. At this time, authorities said it is unknown whether or not alcohol was a factor in this crash.
