Woman seriously injured after falling from golf cart in Port Orange; crash investigation underway

A woman was seriously injured Friday night after falling from a golf cart in Port Orange, according to police.

Port Orange police responded just before 11 p.m. to Waters Edge Boulevard and Tributory Lane to reports of a woman lying on the roadway.

According to the department, the woman was a passenger in the golf cart and fell out while it was being driven.

The woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver was uninjured.

The intersection was shut down for several hours but later reopened.

Anyone with information is asked to call Port Orange Police Department Traffic Homicide Investigator Andrew Mialki at 386-506-5833.

An investigation is ongoing.
