FHP: Person dies after being struck by SUV in Columbia County

The Florida Highway Patrol said a man, 46, died Saturday night after an SUV hit them as they were walking across a Columbia County roadway.

Troopers said the incident took place around 11 p.m. on County Road near SW Miracle Court.

The SUV was traveling west on County Road 252 while the man was walking along the north shoulder of the roadway, FHP said, when the vehicle hit the man.

The man who was hit was declared dead at the scene, FHP said.
