A 26-year-old man was struck and killed by an oncoming train Sunday evening after Boynton Beach police say he ran toward it.
An officer with the Boynton Beach Police Department (BBPD) says they responded to the 700 block of North FEC near NE 6th Avenue at 7 p.m. on Sunday for reports of a train versus pedestrian incident.
The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Due to the incident, East Boynton Beach Boulevard and Federal Highway were closed while the investigation was underway.
So far, the preliminary investigation leads detectives to believe the man was running toward the train prior to the impact.
