A veteran Hollywood Police lieutenant was arrested on Monday after being accused of battering an elderly woman, records showed.
OP, 50, was charged with aggravated battery on a person 65 years of age or older and battery on a person 65 years of age or older, Broward Jail records showed.
According to an arrest report, on Monday, P entered the Broward Main Jail and surrendered himself.
An arrest warrant for P described that he grabbed and pushed an elderly woman into a parked car, which caused her to fall on the ground, and she fractured her shoulder.
Hollywood Police Chief Jeff Devlin released a statement Wednesday on Perez’s arrest.
“The Hollywood Police Department was made aware of allegations of domestic violence involving Lieutenant OP, a 25-year veteran of HPD. The Hollywood Police Department takes domestic violence very seriously and Lt. P has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation,” the statement read. “We are fully cooperating with the Miramar Police Department, who is handling this investigation, to ensure transparency and accountability.”
