1 dead after car crashes into pond in LaBelle

One person is dead after a car became submerged in a pond in LaBelle on Wednesday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers responded to reports of a vehicle in a pond at 475 Evans Road in LaBelle around 1:12 a.m.

The FHP said troopers located the reported vehicle submerged in a pond and also found a 66-year-old man in the pond.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said.

The crash remains under investigation, according to the FHP.
