A deadly crash early Wednesday morning shut down a stretch of Australian Avenue in Riviera Beach after a collision involving two cars and a scooter left one person dead.
The Riviera Beach Police Department (RBPD) said the northbound lanes of Australian Avenue between the 200 and 400 blocks were closed for several hours as investigators worked the scene after a crash at 6:30 a.m.
Police said the driver of the scooter was taken to a nearby hospital where they later died from their injuries.
RBPD confirmed that the roadway was cleared and reopened at approximately 9:15 a.m. No additional details about the victim’s identity or the circumstances leading to the crash have been released. Police say a formal news release is forthcoming.
