A Fort Myers police officer was struck by a vehicle during a traffic stop at Colonial Boulevard and Treeline Avenue, and the department is now asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect.
The driver, identified as 21-year-old M. T. A., is accused of fleeing from the traffic stop in a black 2019 Chevrolet Corvette with Florida tag DJ78TI after being accused of hitting the officer with his vehicle around 7:40 p.m. The officer is currently in stable condition, and the Fort Myers Police Department extends its thoughts and prayers to the officer and their family as they continue healing.
FMPD said A. remains at large. If you see him or the vehicle, do not approach. Call 911 immediately or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
A. was previously arrested for battery on a law enforcement officer and reckless driving.
