The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that has left two people injured.
The shooting happened Saturday night at what authorities are calling a preplanned party at Browntown Park that roughly 100 people attended.
Preliminary findings reveal nearly 50 shots were fired, and two victims were struck by gunfire.
The victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment; no details have been released on the extent of their injuries.
Deputies have confirmed that three weapons were involved. The shooting remains an active and ongoing investigation.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is working to identify everyone involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“Behavior like this will not be tolerated in Jackson County,” said Jackson County Sheriff Edenfield. “Firing guns into a crowd is reckless, dangerous, and completely unacceptable.
