High Springs firefighters say a fire late Sunday night is now under control.
High Springs Fire Department officials say crews responded to reports of an outdoor fire along Northwest 230th Street and Northwest 189th Avenue in High Springs just after 8:30 p.m. Crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a large abandoned home.
After facing several challenges, High Springs Public Works officials used a tractor to help clear a path to safely access the overgrown property and assisted in removing portions of the structure to help extinguish the fire.
More than two dozen firefighters from several other agencies including Alachua County Fire Rescue, Newberry, High Springs Police Department, and Duke Energy helped put out the fire.
HSFD officials say the fire is under control, and there are no threats to surrounding structures or properties. There were no injuries reported.
The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
