A 23-year-old man died following a shooting on Monday.
The Fort Pierce Police Department (FPPD) at around 12:27 p.m. on Nov. 24, a 911 call came in near 1200 North 27th Street, related to a gunshot wound.
When officers arrived on the scene, the FPPD stated that it was determined an altercation involving a group of men had occurred, and the 23-year-old sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the initial investigation indicates this is an isolated incident and there is no active threat to the public.
The Fort Pierce Police Department is in the process of notifying next of kin and has yet to release the identity of the victim. At last check officials have not confirmed if a suspect is in custody or if a person of interest has been identified.
