Man shot during ‘road rage’ incident outside business on Philips Highway: JSO

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a road rage incident that escalated into gunfire early Monday morning at Del-Air Heating & Air Conditioning on Philips Highway.

Around 7:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting at 5801 Philips Highway. Sergeant Richardson with the Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit said an adult male was shot and taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The injury is now considered non-life-threatening.

According to JSO, the investigation revealed the victim followed the suspect to the suspect’s workplace after a road rage confrontation. An argument broke out, and when the victim exited his vehicle, the suspect fired a single shot, striking the victim in the chest.

Detectives canvassed the scene for surveillance footage and spoke with witnesses. Both the victim and suspect have been detained, and the suspect has been arrested.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500, email jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org or call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
