A major intersection in Mandarin closed early Thursday after a pickup truck crashed into a pole, causing traffic signals and wires to fall onto the road.
JSO said the crash happened around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection with Losco Road.
Just before 7 a.m., JSO said all northbound lanes of Old St. Augustine Road will be closed for about seven to eight hours between Livingston Road and Loretto Road. Losco Road, leading up to the intersection, was also closed.
Officials told News4JAX crews were worried about the stability of the pole, which is why they’re not letting traffic drive through this portion of the road.
Southbound lanes have reopened, as this is the opposite side of where the crash happened.
Around 3:50 a.m., the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said all lanes of travel at the intersection of Old St. Augustine Road and Losco Road were closed until further notice due to the downed wires and traffic signals.
Police said the crash involved one pickup truck that hit a pole, and no serious injuries were reported.
JEA and DOT were notified and responded to the scene to stabilize the pole and attached wires and signals.
As of 7:36 a.m., traffic signals for the intersection still had no power and were inoperable, but crews had stabilized the pole.
Police said all westbound traffic on Losco Road will need to divert to Hood Road.
There is also limited access to the nearby businesses near this intersection, including the Old St. Augustine Plaza and Mandarin Central Shopping Center.
