One dead, one injured in fiery crash on State Road 70 during heavy fog

Two vehicles collided on State Road 70 during dense fog and limited visibility, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

Troopers said that on the morning of Dec. 6, a driver attempted to pass a slower vehicle in front of them, despite the low-visibility foggy conditions. While attempting the pass, it collided with another vehicle, causing both vehicles to erupt in flames.

The driver of the oncoming vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver who attempted to pass another vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
