Daughter allegedly slaps father and threatens him with frying pan

A Fruitland Park woman was arrested for battery after allegedly slapping her father when he refused to let her husband move in with them.

A deputy responded to a physical altercation between 27-year-old KPS and her father at their Fruitland Park residence around 8:40 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The father advised that Schlunt got upset when he refused to let her husband move into the home. She went to her bedroom and started repeatedly slamming the door. He then opened the door to address the situation and tell her to stop, as he worried she would break the door, the report said.

Upon doing so, she slapped him twice on the face. He slapped her back once in response, to which she grabbed a frying pan and held it in the air as if to hit him with it. He sustained red marks on the left side of his face where he said she slapped him, the report said.

His wife was present during the altercation and corroborated his account. She added that she tried to intervene when Schlundy grabbed the frying pan, and she was unable to hit him with it, the report said.

S gave a similar statement but advised that her father shoved the door open and pushed her when she slammed it closed. She also admitted picking up the frying pan, claiming it was for self-defense. She locked herself in her bedroom after the altercation and called law enforcement, the report said.

She stated her children, a 6-year-old and two 4-year-olds, were there during the incident, and she tried to calm them down afterward. She sustained redness on the left side of her face and said her head hurt, as well, the report said.

The oldest of her children advised that he saw S and her father struggling during the altercation. He recalled her father shoving the door open, and S slamming it shut. He also stated she called the police after the incident, the report said.

S was ultimately arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic). She was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
