A house fire in Pierson on Sunday morning resulted in the death of a 69-year-old man and two dogs, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire was reported around 8:30 a.m. at 481 N. Shell Harbor Road, Pierson.

After Volusia County firefighters extinguished the fire, a 69-year-old man was found dead inside.

Two dogs were also killed in the fire, according to the deputies.

Deputies said the fire destroyed the structure, but the cause remains under investigation.
