Fort Lauderdale police officers said they arrested a woman at a hospital after she assaulted a staff member.
According to police, an off-duty officer responded to a call from Broward Health Medical Center staff after a patient had locked herself in a bathroom.
Police said an officer escorted the patient, who has been identified as 24-year-old AS, back to her room.
Once in the room, a doctor arrived to inform her she was being Baker Acted, and police said that’s when S become hostile and attacked the doctor, kicking him in the legs despite being held back by the officer.
S was arrested and charged with assault on a Department of Health employee.
Deputies said she was taken to the BSO Main Jail without further incident.
