A firefighter is recovering at the hospital after several fire crews battled a house fire in Cedar Key on Tuesday morning.
Officials say a home on stilts caught fire on State Road 24 around 10 p.m., in the area known as “Beckham Island.”
Fire crews from across Levy County battled the fire for several hours, clearing the scene around 5:30 a.m.
Chiefland officials said one of their firefighters suffered a medical emergency during the call and was taken to the hospital.
They said his condition is improving. No other injuries were reported.
The house is considered a total loss. The State Fire Marshals’ Office was notified and is investigating the fire.
