Man flags down officers after being shot multiple times in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale police are investigating a domestic-related shooting that occurred Tuesday night, authorities confirmed.

According to Sgt. David Soika, officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of NE 15th Street just before 9:20 p.m. in reference to a possible shooting.

While officers were en route to the scene, they were flagged down by a man near the 400 block NE 13th Street, who was suffering from multiple gunshots wounds.

Soika said officers assisted the victim before he was transported by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue to Broward Health Medical Center in serious condition.

“Preliminary investigation has revealed that this incident stemmed from a domestic disturbance with an additional, known third party individual on scene,” Soika said in an email to Local 10 News. “The disturbance escalated into gunfire and all parties fled the original scene.”

Soika said the “third party” came forward to detectives and is cooperating with the investigation.

He said the shooting is being investigated as a possible “stand your ground” case and no arrests have been made at this time.

The identities of those involved in the shooting have not yet been released.
