A man is behind bars after being accused of breaking into his home, threatening his family with a knife and fleeing the scene, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies explained that the suspect, M B-O, 38, had ongoing issues with substance abuse and was locked out of his Deltona residence.
However, B-O kicked in the front door and forced himself in. Two out of the four victims inside the home attempted to call 911, but he allegedly grabbed their phones.
During the incident, B-O threw a chair at one family member, hitting another and causing a minor laceration to her right temple, according to VSO.
He then reportedly held a knife to a family member, threatening to kill her.
Upon discovering that 911 had been called, he fled the residence on foot.
Deputies located him with the help of a K-9 unit and took him into custody.
VSO said B-O was charged with:
- Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
- Child abuse
- Tampering with a witness
- Domestic violence battery
He is being held without bond.
